after assessing the state’s inventory, the small group determined that there were many factors impeding Mississippi’s ability to become that ideal place—that is, households had weakened family structures that were indicative of a host of situations that precipitated children who have become susceptible to homelessness, both socially at-risk and vulnerable. The current focal point of the organization is to provide nutritional supports to families and children across the state that are designed to promote healthy eating habits, which have been found to improve several conditions: school performance, reduce anti-social behavior and produce life-long patterns that result in extended wellness.

The organization’s commitment to a utopia type paragon is a direct indication of both its longevity and stability in providing services to families and children who have become at-risk and susceptible to homelessness.

The organization’s national and local partners have been instrumental in the success of the feeding program throughout the state. The infrastructure and capacity developed over these past 5 years have given us invaluable insight into the needs of children and families around the state. Through the efforts of the employees both here and in partnering organizations, the Southern Foundation’s leadership believe that we can be a great asset to the efforts undertaken by Mississippi State University. The relationships and work with municipalities across the state has put us in a prime position to serve in various capacities on this noble undertaken. We are committed to furthering the conversation and determining how best we can serve.
