Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

  55+ Workforce Development Program 


The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a workforce initiative aimed at empowering adults aged 55 and older through training, skill development, and meaningful work opportunities. In partnership with the Southern Foundation for Homeless Children, Inc. and the Cathedral St. Augustine’s, this program represents a collective effort to strengthen Mississippi communities by helping older adults remain active contributors in the workforce. 



Mission & Purpose 

The mission of SCSEP is to create pathways for adults aged 55+ to: 

● Re-enter the workforce with dignity and confidence. 

● Gain training and support that align with community needs. 

● Provide valuable services to organizations and local economies. 

● Supplement their household income and improve their quality of life. 


Geographic Focus 

The program will launch across six counties in Mississippi: 

● Pearl River County 

● Jones County 

● Harrison County 

● Jefferson Davis County 

● Forrest County 

● Covington County 

These counties were selected based on both need and the opportunity for senior workforce engagement.

 

The Workforce Development Opportunity 

For decades, the Southern Foundation for Homeless Children, Inc. has worked to ensure children and families have their basic needs met. Today, through the SCSEP 55+ Workforce Program, this mission extends to seniors. 

By collaborating with the Cathedral of St. Augustine’s and key cohorts, we are dedicated to ensuring that older adults have the training, resources, and opportunities they need to return to the workforce and continue making a meaningful impact for family, community, and life enriched.
